Edward Scott Perry

Thurmond Mr. Edward Scott Perry, age 68, of Reid Nixon Road, passed away Tuesday, May 31, 2005 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. Mr. Perry was born May 29, 1937 in Surry County to Jessie "J.J." & Inez Norman Perry. Mr. Perry was a member of Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church. He was retired from Surry County Public Works and he also drove a truck for many years. He loved music and played bass for many area bluegrass and gospel groups. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five sisters. Survivors include: his wife, Gladys Nixon Perry of the home; a daughter, Sherrie Pavlansky and husband Mark of Elkin; a brother, Dennis R. Perry of Tacoma, Wa.; a sister, Bertha Saunders of Danville, Va.; Mr. & Mrs. Perry were expecting their first grandchild in July; several nieces and nephews; a special friend and caregiver, Debbie Money. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 4th, 2005 at 3:00 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home Chapel in Elkin. Burial will follow at Union Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to Hospice of Surry County 1326 N. Main Street, Mt. Airy, NC 27030. The family would like to thank Hospice of Surry County for all their care and concern provided to the family.
