Iris Victoria Mullen

Iris Victoria Mullen was born April 10, 1936 on the Coeur D'Alene reservation. She was the youngest daughter to Anne Bohn, who was descended from the Spokane and Kalispell tribes. Anne had 9 children. Eleanor Peone, Marceline Leo, Edith Mahoney, Herman Zachary, Andrew Zachary, Myrtte' Patricia' Quigley, Virginia DeLorme, Iris Mullen, and Leonard Davison. Times were hard and the youngest children spent time at the boarding school in De Smet. Growing up Iris and Leonard also spent some time in Lewiston before moving back to Plummer. Iris had 6 children. Adrian Rickman, Vivian Ambro, Mary Abrahamson, Marlene Ambro Jansen Falcon, Leona Mullen Andrade, and Vickie Ambro. Iris married Charles Mullen on November 11, 1970. Charles was in the Navy and they spent a great deal moving after Charles tour, they still moved around spending time in California, Washington, Wyoming, Nevada, Montana, and Oregon. In 1978 they finally settled down at their ranch on Windfall Pass. She spent her later years traveling with the seniors and raising her grandson, Charles little Charlie Contreras. In 2000, she started hitting the Pow-Wow trail with her granddaughter, Felicia Smith-Haynes and her children. She spent this time teaching her great-grandchildren how to find Indian medicine and tea, picking berries and telling stories. She really loved spending this time with them. In late September 2010, when she found out about her illness she moved in with Felicia and her family in Rathdrum, Id. On December 23, 2010, after many prayers and songs, Iris passed away surrounded by the love of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren along with Taylor Who she called Tay Tay Riddle and Austin Thomas . She is survived by her husband of 40years, Charles Mullen. Her daughters Vivian Ambro of Worley, Leona Andrade of Plummer, Vickie Ambro of Plummer. Her sister Virginia DeLorme of Plummer and her Brother Leonard Davison of De Smet. She leaves behind 12 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
