William Bland Lowe

September 3, 1918 — July 16, 2005

State Road, Mr. Bland Lowe, age 86, of 140 Passover Lane, went to be with the Lord and joined hands with his wife Doris Higgins Lowe in Heaven, Saturday, July, 16, 2005 at his home after an extended illness. He was born September 3, 1918 to L.D. and Carrie Jane Lowe, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by sisters Alma Bumgardner, Grace Norman, Vera Smith, a brother Clay Lowe, and an infant sister. Survivors include: one brother E.D. Lowe and wife Edna of Greensboro, a son, Harold Lowe and wife Carmen of Yadkinville, four daughters: Louise Turner and husband Roger of Sylva, Mary Darnell and husband Barry of Elkin, Sandra Casstevens and husband Graham of Elkin, Karen Casstevens and husband Charles of State Road, grandchildren: Jeff Lowe, Brain and wife Beth Darnell, Scott and wife Susan Darnell and Michelle Casstevens. Great grandchildren: Whitney Lowe, Andrew Darnell, Samuel Darnell, Logan Darnell, and Zackary Darnell. A loving niece; Catherine and husband Calvin Cardwell, a dear friend Ford Ray of Jonesville, also devoted and loving friends: Cora Lee Dodson, Olene Beech, Wilma Franklin, Buster Southard, and Kenneth Wood. He served as a deacon at Round Hill Baptist Church in Traphill for 38 years. He also taught Sunday School many years and represented his church at many Southern Baptist Association meetings. He was a devoted Christian and loving husband, father, and grandfather. The family will receive friends Monday, July 18, 2005 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 19, 2005 at 3:00p.m. at Round Hill Baptist Church in Traphill. Officiating will be Rev. Walter Hutchens and Rev. Amos Lyon. Mr. Lowe will lie in state thirty minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be: Roger Turner, Barry Darnell, Graham Casstevens, Charles Casstevens, Brian Darnell, and Scott Darnell. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Round Hill Baptist Church. Online condolences may be made at www.hodgesfuneralhomeinc.com.
