Elkin Mr. Amy Eugene "Gene" Parks, Jr., age 55, of Brookfall Dairy Road, passed away Monday, June 9, 2008 at his residence. Mr. Parks was born April 21, 1953 in Wilkes County to Amy Eugene & Connie Hinson Parks, Sr. Mr. Parks retired from Unifi, Inc. after twenty years of service and he was a member of Thanks to Calvary Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Parks. Survivors include: his wife, Jenny Teague Parks of the home; a stepson, Rev. James H. Pardue and wife Karen of Jonesville; a daughter, Beverly Dawn Butts and husband Randy of Salisbury; a stepdaughter, Regina Maria Pardue of Orlando, Fla.; a brother, Samuel Dewitt Hall and wife June of State Road; two sisters, Peggy Willey and husband Steve of State Road, Virginia Pardue and husband Lonnie of Thurmond; four grandchildren, Zachery Butts, Abbygail Butts, Taylor Pardue and Andrew Pardue. Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 12, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Thanks to Calvary Baptist Church by Rev. Steve Mahaffey, Rev. James Pardue and Rev. Benny Adams. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Parks will lie instate thirty minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00-7:30 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin.
