Roaring River Miss Lillian Grace Byrd, age 72, of White Plains Road, passed away Thursday, May 05, 2005 at her residence. Mrs. Byrd was born October 5, 1932 in Wilkes County to Dewey & Grace Viette Richardson Byrd. Mrs. Byrd was a dispatcher at Southern Bell and she was a member of Rachel Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Rev. Edsel Byrd and a sister, Juna Lee Byrd. Survivors include: three brothers, Douglas Byrd of Roaring River, Keith Byrd of N. Wilkesboro, Hal Byrd of Winston-Salem; five sisters, Crystal Hayes of Winston-Salem, Vivian Walls of Roaring River, Aileen Bauguess of Old Town, Brenda Tedder of Wilkesboro, Barbara Goforth of Germantown; a foster brother, Billy Osborne of State Road; nineteen nieces and nephews; nineteen great nieces and nephews; six great-great nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 7, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. at Rachel Baptist Church by Rev. Leon Mikles and Rev. Hilliary Wood. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
