Roaring River Mr. Jerry Bobby Settle, age 64, of Austin Little Mountain Road, passed away Thursday, January 4, 2007 at his residence. Mr. Settle was born February 18, 1942 in Wilkes County to Cletus B. & Fansie Mae Tucker Settle. Mr. Settle was a member of Benham Baptist Church and was retired from US Airways. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and served during Vietnam. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ted Watson Settle and a niece Pamela Ann Settle. Survivors include: his wife, Judy Barker Settle of the home; a daughter, Amy Cook and husband Preston and a granddaughter, Audrey Elizabeth Cook all of Monroe; two brothers, Don Settle and wife Dorothy of Wilkesboro, David Settle and wife Cathy of Elkin; three sisters, Reba Ross of Roaring River, Ramona Jordan and husband Clifford and Jean Settle all of Elkin; his father and mother-in-law, Luther and Georgia Barker of Roaring River. Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 7, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at Benham Baptist Church by Rev. Jason Wiles, Rev. Stewart Roten and Rev. Elmer Barker. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Settle will lie instate 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin.
