Cora Lee Norman

July 29, 1993 — August 26, 2006

Mrs. Cora Lee Bates Norman, age 73, of Wayne Marshall Road, passed away Saturday August 26, 2006 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Norman was born in Surry County July 29, 1933 to Johnny and Fannie Adams Bates. Mrs. Norman was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, William Bates and Donald Bates, a sister, Marie Bates and a step granddaughter, Virginia Coe. Survivors include: Her husband, Windell Norman of Hamptonville. Three sons, Windell Norman, Jr. and his wife Betty of Jonesville, Jimmy Dale Norman of Galax, Va, Andy William Norman of Elkin. Two daughters, Brenda Kay Norman of Lincolnton, Linda Gay Osborne and her husband Billy of Elkin. Four sisters, Gladys Davis of Germanton, Gurtie Bullins of Mt. Airy, Betty Bronson of Hamptonville, and Bonnie Batten of Reidsville. Seven Grandchildren, Wendy Michelle Poovey of Maiden, Heather Dawn Hernandez of Lincolnton, Andrea Norman, Brittany Norman, Leigha Norman, Jordyn Norman and William Norman all of Elkin. Three step grandchildren, Jerry Lane, Adam Lane and Robert Lane. Sixteen Great grand children. Funeral services will be held Tuesday August 29, 2006 at 2:00 pm at Bible Baptist Church by Rev. J.T. Blevins. Burial will follow in the Church cemetery. Mrs. Norman will lie instate thirty minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends Monday from 7-9 pm at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin.
