Gertude Childress Gregory

November 19, 1909 — April 13, 2007

Mrs. Gertrude Childress Day Gregory, age 97 of Charles St. passed away Friday April 13, 2007 at Elkin Health Care. Mrs. Gregory was born in Wilkes County November 19, 1909 to John and Lucinda Smith Childress. Mrs. Gregory was retired from Chatham Manufacturing Company and was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband Brannon Day and her second husband Page Gregory; also one sister, one brother, and one half sister. Mrs. Gregory is survived by several nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral services for Mrs. Gregory will be held Sunday April 15, 2007 at three o'clock pm at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Jerry Fugate, Rev. Danny Dodd. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on hour prior to the service at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be made to the nursery department of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Elkin Health Care for their years of love and care that was provided to Mrs. Gregory and her family.
