Thurmond Mrs. Mabel Thompson Wilmoth, age 92, of Union Hill Road, passed away Monday, December 29, 2008 at Heritage Healthcare. Mrs. Wilmoth was born October 24, 1916 in Surry County to Eli & Marinda Viola Cook Thompson. Mrs. Wilmoth was a homemaker and a member of White Rock Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dallas Homer Wilmoth; a son, Joe Wilmoth; five brothers, Howard, Luther, Grant, Harrison and Boyd Thompson; four sisters, Lela Thompson, Naomi Edwards, Dosie Hartman and Laura McCann. Survivors include: A son, Lee Wilmoth and wife Corliss of Thurmond; two daughters, Ruby Haynes and husband Bobby Joe of Elkin, Lois Pratt and husband Harry of Simpsonville, SC; a daughter-in-law, Jettie Lou Wilmoth of Dobson; three sisters, Julie McCann of Elkin, Betty Walker and husband Edward of Winston-Salem, Hettie Lambert of Greenville, SC; six grandchildren, Michael Wilmoth, Melissa Casey, Caroline Leonard, Elizabeth Pratt, Dorrian Wilmoth and Onifer Wilmoth; two great grandchildren, Kendall Casey and Taylor Casey. Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 1, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Robert Waddell and Rev. Tony Bowman. Burial will follow at Union Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin.
