Boonville Miss Darla Renee Atkinson, age 8, of J&J Lane has joined the choir of Angels and went home to be with our Lord on December 1, 2006. Darla was born May 10, 1998 in Elkin to Dustin Ray and Melanie Lynn Sanders Atkinson. Darla was a student at Jonesville Elementary School and was a member of Swaims Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Judy Honeycutt, and maternal great grandparents, John and Clara Armstrong, and a cousin, Johnny Fenn. Survivors include her parents, Dustin and Melanie Atkinson. A sister, Danielle Lynne Atkinson, a brother, Devin Ray Atkinson all of the home. Great Maternal Grandmother, Linda Burchette "NaNa" of Boonville. Paternal Grandmother, Chris Christianson, "GrandmaChris" of Wilkesboro. Wade Faw, "Grandpa Wade" of Wilkesboro. Cousins, Eric Moose, Zoe Fenn, Savannah Atkinson, Amanda Moose, April Anthony, Ashley Caudill. Funeral services will be held Tuesday December 5, 2006 at 2:00 pm at Swaims Baptist Church by Rev. Craig Whaldie. Burial will follow in the Church cemetery. Miss Atkinson will lie instate thirty minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends Monday from 6-8 pm at Swaims Baptist Church. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Swaims Baptist Church.
