Barney E. "Bud" Johnston Jr. 80 lifetime resident of St. Maries, ID passed away on April 10, 2010 at St. Maries, with his wife, son and daughter by his side. He was born July 30, 1929 to Barney and Ruth Floyd Johnston Sr. at Dooley, Montana. He graduated from St. Maries High School with the class of 1947. He is a Korean War veteran, having served in the U.S. Army from Dec. 1951 to 1953. He married Dolores Dee Foster in 1953 at Fernwood, ID. They made their home in St. Maries, where he worked for the St. Maries Lumber Company. When the mill burned down in 1961, he moved the family to Plummer, ID and operated a Texaco Gas Station there for 2 years before returning to St. Maries where he went to work for Potlatch. He worked at about every position in the mill before becoming Head Saw Filer. He retired in 1991. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, motorcycling, four-wheeling, and spending time on his river property. He loved spending time with his grand children and great grand children. He was a lifetime member of the St. Maries Elks Lodge, a member of the St. Maries Eagles Lodge, American Legion and the Benewah Co. Sr. Citizens. Survivors include his beloved wife of 56 years, Dee, at the family home in St. Maries. His son and daughter-in-law Joseph and Sharlyn Johnston and his daughter Susan Beary, all of St. Maries. He is also survived by brothers and their wives Jim and Beulah Johnston and Mike Jerry and Ellen Johnston all of St. Maries. Also surviving are his sister Jeanette Fatur of Spokane, WA and sister and her husband Mary and Mel Amos of Lewiston, ID. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren ½ Heather Sean Ryan, Cynthia, Joseph Jr., Barbara Ann, Gregory, Isaac and Alexander Johnston, James Beary, and 2 great grandchildren ½ Mallory Edwards and Dawson Ryan, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brothers Jack and Gene Johnston and sisters Margie Schnabl and Dorothy Johnston. A celebration of his life will be Saturday, April 17, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Hodge Funeral Home with Fr. Timothy Ritchey officiating. A gathering of family and friends will be held following the services at the St. Maries Elks Lodge. The family suggests memorials to either the Michael J.
