Bertha Cleary Spicer

Mrs. Bertha Faye Cleary Spicer, 83 of Traphill, passed away Friday, July 16, 2010 at her home. Mrs. Spicer was born December 24, 1926 in Wilkes County to Jonah and Bessie Holbrook Cleary. She was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church in Traphill. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Spicer was preceded in death by her husband William Donald Spicer; granddaughter Kisha Marie Cleary; brothers, Ivey Cleary & wife Irene, Buel Cleary, and Crant Cleary; sisters, Delia Higgins & husband Woodrow, Mae Miles & husband Paul, Annie Absher & husband Johnny, and Myrtle Cleary; brothers-in-law, Roby Wiles, Lynn Joines, June Spicer, Wayne Wright Spicer, and Lester Spicer. She is survived by three sons, Jerry Cleary & wife Doris, Ivan Dean Cleary & wife Vickie, and Benny Cleary & wife Gina; two sisters, Beatrice Joines and Irene Wiles; six grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; two sisters-in-law, Linda Colbert and Marlene Triplett; and many beloved nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted Sunday, July 18, 2010 at 2:00 pm at Piney Grove Baptist Church in Traphill with Rev. Larry Teague, Rev. Larry Wingler, and Rev. Billy Shepherd officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Elkin Funeral Service. The family wishes to thank Bingel and Douglas Lewis for all their loving care given to Mrs. Spicer throughout her illness. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 688 N. Bridge Street, Elkin, NC 28621.
