Harold Timothy Barker

Jonesville Mr. Harold Timothy Barker, age 82, of S. Center Street, passed away Monday, January 5, 2009 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mr. Barker was born June 22, 1926 in Wilkes County to Noah & Maude Cockerham Barker. Mr. Barker was a veteran of the United States Navy and served during WWII. He retired in 1984 from McClean Trucking after serving 30 years. He will be remembered as a wonderful "Pa Pa" to his grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, Drake Anthony Barker; five brothers, Homer, Claude, Ford, Milo and George; four sisters, Susie Spann, Ennice Barker, Della Dimmette, Hallie Stoker. Survivors include: his wife, Kathleen White Barker of the home; two sons, Terry Lee Barker and Steven Harold Barker and fiancée Lisa Shore all of Jonesville; three sisters, Grace Johnson of Jonesville, Betty Cockerham and Louise Tilley and husband Harold all of Elkin; three grandchildren, Leigh Wells and husband Stacy, Tiffany Russell and husband Bronson, Laurie Merriss and husband Todd; seven great grandchildren, Caleb Holden, Josh Holden, Ryan Russell, Beth Russell, Alison Wells, Caden Merriss, Jackson Merriss. Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 8, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home Chapel by Harlan Hamilton and Al Goff. Burial will follow at Crestwood Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin. The Barker family would like to extend their gratitude to Forsyth Memorial Hospital and the 5th floor and the staff of CICU.
