Ronald E. Pentland 57 resident of St. Maries, ID, died May 6, 2010 at his mothers residence following a short term battle with cancer. He was born June 4, 1952 to William and Arlene Guenther Pentland Jr. at St. Maries, ID. He lived in Libby, MT with his family from 1955 until they moved to St. Maries in 1964. He attended schools at St. Maries and I.H.M. Academy in Coeur d' Alene, ID He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1970 and was stationed in Germany. He was discharged in 1973 and moved to Deer Lodge, MT where he went to work for the Anaconda Mining Co. He married Candace Healy in the early 1970's and they were divorced in the mid-1990's. While he was working for Anaconda, he was injured on the job which forced him into a disability retirement. He returned to St. Maries in the mid-1990's and worked as a caretaker in home maintance for area families. He worked as a cook for the origional Handy Corner Resturant. Most recently, he was a caregiver for his parents. He enjoyed landscaping, and gardening. He is survived by his mother at her home in St. Maries. His adopted son Billy Pentland of Butte , MT. Also surviving are brothers Donald Pentland of Mountain Home, ID and William Pentland of Wichita, KS. He is also survived by sisters Elsie Douglas of Libby, MT, Betty Mae Walsh of Victor, MT and Kathryn Thorhaug of St. Maries. A celebration of his life was held Monday May 10th at 11:00 a.m. At the Assembly of God Church with Pastor Warren Law officiating. A gathering of family and friends followed services at the church. Hodge Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
