Vergie Eva Hemric

State Road Mrs. Vergie Eva Bryant Hemric, age 96, of Noah Hayes Road, passed away, Monday, February 19, 2007 at Elkin Healthcare Center. Mrs. Hemric was born January 1, 1911 in Alleghany County to John W. & Della Shaw Bryant. Mrs. Hemric was a homemaker and was a member of Elkin 1st Baptist Church for over 60 years and was a gracious Christian Lady. She was a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law and grandmother. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Henry Hemric; a brother, John Earlie Bryant; a sister, Biddie Bryant Neal and an infant son, Jimmy Hemric. Survivors include: a son, Walter R. Hemric of Elkin; a daughter, Lottie Swift and husband Willard of State Road; five grandchildren, Greg Hemric and wife Lynn, Lori Jones and husband Kenny, Tina Viane and husband Gary, Johnny Swift and wife Susan; Josh Swift and wife Amanda; eight great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 21, 2007 at 3:00 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Hollywood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 1:30-3:00 p.m. prior to the service.
