Elkin Mr. Raymond Paul Church, age 75, of Grange Road, passed away Wednesday, April 28, 2004 at Wesley Long Community Hospital. Mr. Church was born April 27, 1929 in Wilkes County to Terry Eugene & Connie Leota Holloway Church. Raymond was a member of Union Baptist Church and was retired after 20 years of service from the United States Air Force as an Air Traffic Controller. Mr. Church was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Sparks Church and a sister, Nattie Mae Church. Survivors include: two sons, Randy W. Church of Columbia, SC, Terry L. Church of Greensboro; one brother, David D. Church of Elkin; three grandchildren; one great grandchild. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 1, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at Hodges Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Amos Lyon. Burial will follow at Crestwood Memorial Gardens with Military Honors by VFW Honor Guard Post 2019 Mt. Airy and Post 9436 Pilot Mountain. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 7-9 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin. The family will accept flowers or memorials may be made to Wesley Long Community Hospital. Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin is serving the Church family.
