Jonesville James Elmer Morrison of Bethel Road, passed away at the age of 89 at Countryside Village in Stokesdale, NC on Saturday December 17, 2005. He was born on September 5, 1916 in Yadkin County and was the son of William and Lillie Morrison. Elmer served in the United States Navy during WW II and retired from Chatham Manufacturing Company. He was a long-time member of Bethel Baptist Church, where he served as deacon. He had a deep love of his family and took great pride in his farm and garden. He was extremely generous with the fruits of his labors. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Robert Samuel and a sister Anna Brandon. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Mary Nell Morrison, one daughter Mary Gray Hoffman of Prince George, VA, one son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Patti Morrison of Belews Creek, NC. He is also survived by three granddaughters, Amy Koren and husband Jason of Prince George, VA, Laura Morrison of Belews Creek, Stephanie Rusnak of Chesterfield, VA, one grandson, Bryant Morrison of Belews Creek, and one great grandson, Tanner Rusnak of Chesterfield, VA. Elmer is also survived by three sisters, Louise Caudle, Pauline Ellis and her husband John of Jonesville, and Lola Smith of Salisbury, NC. He has numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at Hodges Funeral Home Chapel in Elkin on Sunday December 18, 2005 at 2:00pm with Dr. Steve Fowler of Bethel Baptist Church presiding.
