Junior Lester Key

June 20, 1925 — August 2, 2006

Ronda Mr. Junior Lester Key, age 81, of Clingman Road, passed away Wednesday, August 2, 2006 at his residence. Mr. Key was born June 20, 1925 in Surry County to Cudger & Verna Ray Key. Mr. Key was retired from Chatham Manufacturing and was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Wendell Key; a sister, Dorothy Key. Survivors include: his wife, Margaret Calloway Key of the home; a son, Lester Key and wife Sharon of Charlotte; a daughter, Shirley Lyon and husband Jack of Ronda; two brothers, Bill Key of Elkin, Roy Key and wife Barbara of Harrisburg, PA; two grandchildren, one step grandchild; six great grandchildren and a special God child, Ronda Boykin. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 5, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church by Rev. Dennis Murphy, Rev. Dwayne Byrd and Rev. Carl Elledge. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Key will lie instate 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin. The family will accept flowers or memorials may be made to Hospice of Wilkes 1907 West Park Drive, N. Wilkesboro, NC 28659 or to Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Ronda, NC 28670.
