Mrs. Lucille Watkins Cardwell, age 85 of Woodland Dr. passed away Friday February 2, 2007 at her residence. Mrs. Cardwell was born February 11, 1921 in Damascus Va. to Elbert and Drucilla Brown Watkins. Mrs. Cardwell was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church of Sparta. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a daughter Hilda Gray Cardwell, a great granddaughter Madeline Chambers, two brothers Travis and Dallas Watkins, and one sister Hazel Walker. Survivors include her husband Judge Arlie Cardwell of the home, one son Garry Cardwell and his wife Lynne of Elkin, two brothers Fred Watkins and his wife Kay of Taylorsville and Marvin Brown and his wife Louella of Pulear. Three sisters Pansy Wall of Winston Salem, Mildred McGuire and her husband Rufus of North Wilkesboro, and Ernestine Martin and her husband Steve of Clemmons. Three grandchildren, Christopher Cardwell, Jason Cardwell and Amanda Cardwell Chambers, five great grandchildren Alivia Cardwell, Daegan Cardwell, Dawson Cardwell, Owen Chambers and Clara Chambers, and her beloved caregiver Angie Doub. Funeral services for Mrs. Cardwell will be held Sunday February 4, 2007 at 3pm at Hodges Funeral Home Chapel in Elkin conducted by Rev. Johnny Blevins. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service 2-3pm at Hodges Funeral Home. Also a service will be held Monday February 5, 2007 at Corinth Baptist Church in Louisburg NC at 2pm. conducted by Rev. Brent Farral. Mrs. Cardwell will lie instate one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery.
