Doris Poplin

February 24, 1927 — December 21, 2005

Elkin Mrs. Doris Maybel Bauguess Poplin, age 78, of Greenhorn Road, passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2005 at her residence. Mrs. Poplin was born February 24, 1927 in Surry County to Lloyd & Tessie Hodge Bauguess. Mrs. Poplin was a homemaker and a member of Benham Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Grady L. Poplin and a brother, Elwood Bauguess. Survivors include: six sons, Dallas Poplin and wife Gisela of State Road, Dennis Poplin and wife Linda of Hamptonville, Loyd Poplin and wife Carol, Ronnie Poplin and wife Barbara, Charles Poplin, Neil Poplin and wife Penny all of Elkin; a brother, Raymond Bauguess of Baltimore, MD; a sister, Elsie Lockhart of Hickory; twenty grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 23, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at Benham Baptist Church by Rev. Jason Wiles and Rev. Tim Call. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Poplin will lie instate 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Hospice of Wilkes County 1907 West Park Drive, N. Wilkesboro, NC 28659.
