Gaye Wagoner Golds

Mrs. Gaye Wagoner Golds, age 75 of State Road, passed away Thursday, September 8, 2011 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. Mrs. Golds was born February 9, 1936 in Yadkin County to Ted Wagoner and Jane Benton Wagoner. She was an active member of Pleasant View Baptist Church where she was instrumental in organizing the church library. She loved to quilt and was involved with reading to the elderly. Mrs. Golds was the librarian at West Wilkes High School from 1957 until 1963 when she joined the staff of Appalachian State University. She earned her Ed.S. in Library Science in 1973. In 1978, Mrs. Golds became Belk Library's film librarian and retired in 1998 with more than 35 years of service. She was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her husband, Warner Golds of the home; sons, James Golds of State Road and Michael Andy Golds and his wife Sarah of Elkin. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, September 12, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Sherrill Welborn, Rev. Kenny Wood, and Rev. Jimmy Gilreath officiating. Burial will follow in Crestwood Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service. The family requests that memorials be made to The Gideons International, PO Box 95, Elkin, NC 28621. The family would like to thank Elkin Dialysis Center, Miller Street Dialysis, Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center's renal and cardiac units for their care.
