Nancy Opal Warren Wall, 86, of Elkin, passed away Thursday, November 17, 2009 at Hugh Chatham Nursing Center. She was born October 16, 1923 in Wilkes County to Henry Harrison and Nancy Mae Shaver Warren. Ms. Wall was a devoted mother and grandmother and enjoyed traveling, particularly to see relatives in Greece and England. She was a member of Roaring Gap Baptist Church. Ms. Wall attended the Winston Salem City Hospital Nursing Program, and was a proud supporter of the Demon Deacons of Wake Forest. She worked as a nurse for more than 50 years and was well known throughout the Elkin Community. She worked for Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital as an ER nurse and was Director of Nurses for Elkin Healthcare. Ms. Wall also worked as the company nurse for Chatham Manufacturing. In addition to her parents, Ms. Wall was preceded in death by two sisters, Hazel Warren Royall and Helen Warren Poteat. Survivors include, a son, Kelly Bryan Wall & wife Terri of Point Pleasant Beach, NJ; a daughter, Louann Lucie Wall Stylianopoulos & husband Aris of Charlottesville, VA; a niece, Johna Transou Helms of Elkin; two brothers, Dr. Holland Warren & wife Nancy of Lynchburg, VA and Henry Warren, Jr. & wife Frances of Clemmons; two sisters, Velda Transou of Traphill and Louise Billings & husband Garvey of Thurmond; four grandchildren, Abby Wall, Bryan Wall, & Jeff Wall, all of Point Pleasant Beach, NJ and Michael Stylianopoulos of Charlottesville, VA. A memorial service will be conducted Saturday, November 21, 2009 at 4:00 pm at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. E.R. Wiles officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. The family wishes to thank the staff of Hugh Chatham Nursing Center and Dr. Stephen Erlandson for all the care they provided for Ms. Wall.
