Mrs. Pauline Callaway Gillespie, age 77 of Union Hill Rd. passed away Saturday May 26, 2007 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Gillespie was born July 27, 1929 in Flint Michigan to William Marvin and Myrtle Viola Haymore Callaway. Mrs. Gillespie was a homemaker, a member of Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church where served in the Women's Missionary Union. She loved taking care of her family, visiting friends, and gardening. In addition to her parents Mrs. Gillespie was preceded in death by her husband Roy Reece Gillespie and a sister Hazel Wright. Survivors include one son, Dan Gillespie and his wife Julie of Elkin; one daughter, Linda Carter and her husband Phil of Thurmond; three brothers, Sam Callaway and his wife Dorothy of Thurmond, Howard Callaway and his wife Velma of Norton VA., Bud Callaway of St. Petersburg FA., and a special friend Dwight Money; seven grandchildren, Sara Gillespie, Julie Gillespie, Kelly Gillespie, Phillip Carter II and his wife Lada, Bryan Carter, Sarah C. Coreno and her husband Jorge; four great grandchildren, Korbin Powell, Jorge Coreno, Jr. Adrianna Coreno and Austin Coreno. Funeral services for will Mrs. Gillespie will be held at 3:00pm Monday May 28, 2007 at Hodges Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by Rev. Tony White, Rev. Phil Carter and Rev Danny Royal. Burial will follow at Union Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30-3:00pm Monday May 28, 2007 at Hodges Funeral Home. The family will accept flowers or memorials may be made to Hugh Chatham Nursing Center, Activities Department or Union Hill Community Cemetery Fund.
