Elkin Mrs. Fannie Myrtle Sidden Gambill, age 84, of Shoaly Branch Church Road, passed away Wednesday, February 6, 2008 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Gambill was born December 20, 1923 in Wilkes County to Jesse W. & Myrtle Chilton Sidden. Mrs. Gambill a Christian wife, mother, grandmother, sister, friend and teacher was a homemaker and was a member of Shoaly Branch Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Lucille Sidden. Survivors include: her husband Shade Frank Gambill of the home; a son, Larry Gambill and wife Nettie of Mooresville; a daughter, Glenda Day and husband James of Monroe; five brothers, J. Kermit Sidden and wife Collie of Lewisville, Cyrus C. Sidden and wife Edna of Winston-Salem, Rex A. Sidden and wife Naomi, Kelly Sidden and wife Bonnie all of Traphill; Jerry W. Sidden and wife Evelyn of N. Wilkesboro; two sisters, Rachel Sidden Hicks, Rebecca Sidden Norman both of N. Wilkesboro; five grandchildren, Wendy Day Cockerham and husband Jason, Andrew James Day and wife Kara, David Franklin Day, Jessica Gambill Harcar and husband Michael, Lindsay Annette Gambill; three great grandsons, Jesse Marcus Cockerham, Caleb Avery Cockerham and Seth James Cockerham. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to B.R.O.C Elderly Nutrition Program, 710 Beech Street, N. Wilkesboro, NC 28659. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 9, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Shoaly Branch Baptist Church by Rev. Jerry Wilmoth and Rev. Kenny Wood. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Gambill will lie instate 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends Saturday from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin.
