Thurmond, Mrs. Alma Lowe Norman, age 88, of Thurmond Road passed away unexpectedly Friday, July 22, 2005 while residing in the Masonic and Eastern Star home in Greensboro. Mrs. Norman was born December 8, 1916 in Danville, Va to Lawrence and Rebecca Smith Lowe. Mrs. Norman was retired from Belk Stores and was a member of White Rock Methodist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband; Paul Ernest Norman, Sr., and two daughters. Survivors include: two sons: Paul Norman, Jr. and wife Edna of Thurmond, Roger Norman of Washington D.C., one brother; Jim Lowe of Elkin, two sisters: Hazel Shores of Elkin and Stella Shores of Sacramento, Ca. Alma leaves behind a legacy to include 5 grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 26, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at Hodges Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Tony Bowman. Burial will follow in the Thurmond Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday night from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin and at other times at the home of her son Paul Norman, Jr. in Thurmond. The family will accept flowers or memorials may be made to White Rock Methodist Church c/o Louella Johnson 3645 Austin Little Mountain Road, Roaring River, NC 28669. Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin is serving the Norman family.
