James Earnest Burchette went to his heavenly home on Wednesday, October 5, 2011. James was born in Wilkes County on May 10, 1924 to William Jennings Burchette and Rosa Ella Reynolds Burchette. Mr. Burchette was a veteran of WWII with U.S. Marines serving in the south pacific theaterfrom June 1944 to August 1946. He retired from Chatham Manufacturing and was a member Ronda Baptist Tabernacle. Mr. Burchette was the founder of Burchette Painting and Flooring. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Michael Burchette; a daughter in law, Joyce Burchette; a son in law, Douglas Martin; seven brothers, W.A. Burchette, Don R. Burchette, Sam Burchette, Colonel Burchette and three infant brothers; two sisters, Jane Pardue and Zetta Lee Miles. Survivors include; his wife of 64 years Dorothy W. Burchette of the home; three sons, James Thomas "Tommy" Burchette and his wife Tommie Carol of N. Wilkesboro, Gary Steve Burchette and wife Karen of Georgia, Ronald David Burchette and wife Becky of Elkin; two daughters, Patsy Jean Stone and her husband Benny of Clemmons, Judy Ann Martin of Winston Salem; a sister, Willa Mae Brandon and husband Gilbert of Advance; eight grandchildren, Lori Allison Caligan, Benjamin David Stone, Samuel Jason Stone, Lara Michele Potts, Cameron Cockerham, Josh Burchette, Jenipher Burchette, Jacob Burchette, three great grandchildren, William Ross, Luke Burchette, Reid Cockerham. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, October 8, 2011 at 2:00 pm at Macedonia Baptist Church with Rev. Jeff Blackburn, Rev. David Stone and Bill Blackburn officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with full military honors. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6-8pm at Elkin Funeral Service.
