State Road Mrs. Martha Walters Bryant, age 79, of Pat Nixon Road, passed away Friday October 19, 2007 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Bryant was born in Surry County January 16, 1928 to Luther and Myrtle McCann Walters. Mrs. Bryant was a homemaker and a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a grandson, Jeremiah Cale Bryant, a sister, Esta Walters Bryant, six brothers, Gratis, John, McCree, Clyde, P.G., and David Walters. Survivors include: her husband, Charles Ras Bryant of Heritage Care. A daughter and son in law, Sonya B. Mounce and husband Barry of State Road. A son and daughter in law, Don Bryant and wife Gina of Thurmond. Three brothers and sisters in law, Corbet Walters of State Road, Jim Walters and wife Lois of Clemmons, Sam Walters and wife Jene of Eden. Three grandchildren, Brian Mounce and wife Jennifer, Josh Bryant, Jacob Bryant and wife Ashley. Five Great Grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Sunday October 21, 2007 at 2:00 pm at Pleasant View Baptist Church by Rev. Kenny Wood, Rev. Finley McCoury and Rev. Chris Norman. Burial will follow in Crestwood Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Bryant will lie instate thirty minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends Saturday from 7-9 pm at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Pleasant View Baptist Church Youth.
