Mrs. Gertie Mae Hemric , age 89 of Macedonia Church Road passed away Saturday November 26, 2005 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mrs. Hemric was born in Wilkes County May 20, 1916 to Solomon and Matilda Harris Sparks. She was retired from Lucia, and was a member of Little Elkin Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hemric was preceded in death by her husband, James Archie Hemric , a daughter Julia Ann, a grandchild and a great grandchild; four brothers, David Sparks, Ernest Sparks, and Levi Sparks, and Zeb Sparks; six sisters, Julie Blakley, Sarah Alexander, Dora Ferguson, Cindy Huffman, Ozzie Wood and Rozella Poplin. Survivors include: four sons, Jim Hemeric and his wife Edith, Johnny C. Hemeric and his wife JoAnn , Jerry L. Hemeric and his wife Anna all of Ronda, and Jessie D. Hemeric and his wife Judy of Elkin. Two daughters, Peggy Dalton and her husband John, and Brenda Pardue, and her husband Ernest all of Ronda. 19 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. Funeral survices for Mrs Hemeric will be conducted Tuesday November 29, 2005 at 2:00pm at Little Elkin Baptist Church by Rev. Gwyn Anderson and Rev. Steve Fowler. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:30 - 8:30pm at Hodges Funeral Home. The family will accept flowers or memorials may be made to Little Elkin Baptist Church Building Fund.
