Wilda Mae Long

State Road Ms. Wilda Mae Jackson Long, age 65, of Logan Road, State Road, passed away Wednesday, March 22, 2006 at Forsyth Medical Center. Ms. Long was born January 13, 1941 in Surry County to Joseph L. & Nevada Howard Jackson. Wilda was a member of Grassy Creek United Methodist Church where she was a former secretary and treasurer. Ms. Long was a very caring and wonderful mother, sister, friend and neighbor. She was retired from Westpoint Stevens. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Billy Joe Jackson. Survivors include: two sons, Mitchell Long and wife Verona of Dobson; Bobby Long and Cathy of Hamptonville; two brothers, Bernard Jackson and wife Jean of Roaring Gap, Henry Jackson and wife Carol of Lewisville; four sisters, Wanda Hardy and husband Leo of Elkin, Betty Davis and husband Brady of Lewisville, Ruthie Davis of Elkin, Sandra Wilhelm and husband Howard of State Road; three grandchildren, Ashley Long, Casey Long, and John Nixon; a sister-in-law, Roselyn Jackson of Elkin; fifteen nieces and nephews, many friends and good neighbors. Funeral service will be held Saturday, March 25, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at Grassy Creek United Methodist Church by Rev. Jim Prichard and Rev. Rowley "Dink" Haynes, Jr. Burial will follow at Ebenezer United Methodist Church Cemetery. Ms. Long will lie instate 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin and at other times at the home of Sandra Wilhelm, 957 Ebenezer Church Road, State Road, NC 28676.
