North Wilkesboro Mr. Willard Spencer Dobbins, age 91, of ABTco Road, passed away Saturday January 12, 2008 at Chunns Cove Assisted Living in Asheville. Mr. Dobbins was born February 3, 1916 in Wilkes County to Fred and Lillie Speaks Dobbins. Mr. Dobbins served the United States Army during WWII. After his active duty he continued working for the U.S. Government in the defense construction supply agency. Mr. Dobbins was a Deacon of Mt. Valley Baptist Church and a former Deacon of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Columbus Ohio. He was a member of Masonic Lodge #15 in Columbus, Ohio as a Sublime Prince of the Royal Secret of the 32nd Degree. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Mary Singer Dobbins, two brothers, two sisters, and two step children. Survivors include, a daughter, Teri Smith and husband Michael of Marion. A step daughter, Joyce Barber of Columbus, Ohio. Two grandchildren, Teneice and Tiffany Smith. Two great grandchildren, Tyson and Lyric. A brother, Daniel Spraggins of Columbus, Ohio. Nieces and Caregivers, Myra and Linda Dobbins of North Wilkesboro. Host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Tuesday January 15, 2008 at 1 pm at Mt. Valley Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Robert Gray, Rev. Graylin Carlton and Rev. Michael Smith. Burial will follow in the Church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12-1pm, one hour prior to the service at the Church. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Mountain.
