Elkin Mr. Benjamin Claude Oliver, age 50, of ½ mile road, passed away Saturday, June 16, 2007 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. Mr. Oliver was born March 24, 1957 at Fort Bragg, NC to Eli Ben Oliver and the late Bonnie Absher Oliver Mr. Oliver was a department manager at the Elkin Wal-Mart and was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church of Colonial Heights, VA. Mr. Oliver was preceded in death by his mother. Survivors include: his father: Eli Ben Oliver of Elkin, 2 sons: Chris J. Oliver and wife, Michelle of Colonial Heights, VA. and Brandon W. Oliver of Dinwiddie, VA., A daughter: Desiree L. Poe and husband, Curtis of Petersburg, VA, 2 sisters: Janie Oliver of Austin and Susan Buie of Mooresville, Five grandchildren: Bonnie, Cameron, Emily, John and Zoe. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 19, 2007 at Hodges Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 p.m. by Rev. Joel Blevins and Rev. Wesley Smith. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday, June 18, 2007 from 7-9 p.m..
