Comas Gray Groce

Elkin, Mr. Comas Gray Groce, age 82 of mining School Rd. passed away Thursday December 24, 2009 at his residence. He was born Feb. 25, 1927 in Yadkin County, to Sam and Nellie Wagoner Groce. Mr. Groce was retired from Chatham Mfg. and was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church, where he had served as a Sunday School teacher for several years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ernest Groce. Survivors include: his wife Lucile Cheek Groce of the home; four sons, Chris Groce and wife Anita of Roaring River, Sammy Groce and wife Sandra of Sparta, Tenn., Seth Groce of St. Road, and Jimmy Groce and wife Brenda also of St. Road. Twelve Grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and two special friends Jamie Groce, and Rose Ann Groce. Funeral Services will be held Monday December 28, 2009 at 2:00 pm at Pleasant View Baptist Church by Rev. Finley McCoury, and Rev. Kenny Wood. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday evening December 27, 2009 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Pleasant View Baptist Church.
