Ella Barnette Thompson

State Road Mrs. Ella Barnette Thompson, age 94, of Pleasant Ridge Road, State Road, passed away Friday, June 1, 2007 at Hoots Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Thompson was born February 1, 1913 in Surry County to Pinkney F. & Mattie L. Osborne Barnette. Mrs. Thompson was retired from Chatham Manufacturing where she worked for over 50 years and was a member of State Road Pentecostal Holiness Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Dan Thompson, two sisters and five brothers. Survivors include: a brother, Charles Barnette and wife Barbara of Columbia, SC; two sisters, Mattie Rea Harris of Elkin, Christine Coe of Jonesville; several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held Monday, June 4, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Elkin Valley Baptist Church Cemetery by Rev. Gary Tatum. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mt. Airy, NC 27030.
