Thurmond Mrs. Evelyn Rae McCann, age 60, of HG Lewis Road, went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, October 3, 2007 at her residence. Mrs. McCann was born May 24, 1947 in Surry County to Ray & Delaine Henley Burchette. Mrs. McCann was a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church and she was employed by Community Management Corporation as manager of Arlington Hills Apartments. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her grandmother Jessie Henley and a grandchild, Isaiah Stoker. Survivors include: her husband, David McCann of the home; a son, Kavin Burchette and wife Michelle of State Road, a stepson, Eric McCann and wife Missy of Des Moines, Iowa; a daughter, Carrie Burchette Stoker and husband Trevor of Elkin, a stepdaughter, Julia Johnson and husband Tony of Dobson; her father, Ray Burchette and his wife Helen of Thurmond; a brother, Mickey Burchette and wife Sharon of Thurmond; two sisters, Joan Walker, Sandra White and husband Bob all of Richmond, Va.; six grandchildren, Kenly Burchette, Zachary, Matthew and Josh Johnson; Joey McCann, T.J. McCann. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 6, 2007 at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m. by Rev. John Attaway and Chris Blanton. Burial will follow at Crestwood Memorial Gardens. Mrs. McCann will lie instate 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin.
