Rev. Olin Reece Barker, age 86, of Blackburn Street passed away Saturday, July 21, 2007 at his residence. Rev. Barker was born March 14, 1921 in Surry County to Joe and Mary Harp Barker. Rev. Barker was retired from Chatham Manufacturing Company; and was a member of Ronda Baptist Tabernacle. Rev. Barker was saved in 1949, called into the ministry in 1950, and pastured 10 churches over fifty-six years and has ten immediate family members who are now preachers. "Ain't God Good." In addition to his parents Rev. Barker was preceded in death by three brothers, Bill Barker, Pete Barker, Roland Barker; one sister, Rose Barker and four grandchildren. Survivors include; his wife Grace Soots Barker of the home; three sons, Jerry Barker and his wife Janie of Tulare Ca., Larry Barker and his wife Adna of Elkin, Allen Barker and his wife Jan of Yadkinville; four daughters, Pat Call and her husband Bill and Linda Stanley and her husband Donnie all of Wilkesboro, Alice Darnell of Ronda and Janie McCann and her husband Wayne of Roaring River; two brothers, Colon Barker of Wilkesboro and Linville Barker and his wife Louise of Roaring; one sister Lottie Hayes of Winston Salem; thirteen grandchildren, twenty-six great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren, and a special friend Earl Alexander. Funeral services for Rev. Olin Barker will be held at 2:00pm Tuesday, July 24, 2007 at Ronda Baptist Tabernacle conducted by Rev. Jack Osborne, Rev. Gwyn Anderson, Rev. Allen Barker, Rev Larry Barker, and Rev. Jerry Barker. Burial will follow in Ronda City Cemetery. Rev. Barker will be placed in the church thirty minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends Monday evening at Ronda Baptist Tabernacle from 6-8pm. The family will accept flowers or memorials may be made to Hospice of Wilkes, 1907 West Park Drive N.
