Elkin Mr. Robert Walter McCann, Sr. age 81, of Elk Spur Street, Elkin, passed away Tuesday, October 10, 2006 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. Mr. McCann was born October 14, 1924 in Wilkes County to Closure E. & Hallie Tucker McCann. Mr. McCann was a veteran of the United States Navy and was a member of Jonesville Pentecostal Holiness Church and the Lion's Club. He retired from Chatham Manufacturing. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include: his wife, Alta Marie Owens McCann; two sons, Robert Walter McCann, Jr. of Clemmons, Kendall Tucker McCann of Millers Creek; a daughter, Sharon Raye McCann of Thurmond; one sister, Ethyl West and husband Ed of Black Mountain; four grandchildren, Todd McCann of Huntington Beach, CA, Michaele Beiza of Las Vegas; Monique Whisenhunt of Lakeland, Fla., Autumn Edwards of Pilot Mountain; seven great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 13, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at Jonesville Pentecostal Holiness Church by Rev. Tim Lane. Burial will follow at Crestwood Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends, Thursday evening from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin.
