Agnes Transou Hayes

Mrs. Agnes Transou Hayes, age 99, passed away Friday, March 4, 2022 at PruittHealth of Elkin. Mrs. Hayes was born February 6, 1923 in Surry County to Russell and Jettie Carter Transou. She was a lifelong and faithful member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and was active for many years with the children’s choir and bereavement committee. Mrs. Hayes retired from Chatham Manufacturing and was a loving and devoted wife, mother and nannie.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Rex Wilson Hayes; son-in-law, Ronny White and brothers, Bob Transou and Frank Transou.

Survivors include: her daughter, Rexanna H. White of Elkin; granddaughters, Heather Whitley and Rebekah Holbrook and her husband Bradley, great grandchildren, MaKayla Holbrook, Reagan Whitley, Kaley Holbrook, Bryson Whitley and Jaxon Holbrook; brother, Turner Transou and sister, Dorothy Bryant and her husband Harold.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, March 8, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 11:30 am-1:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
