Christene Kingston

Mrs. Alice Christene Kingston, age 73, of Elkin passed away Friday, August 2, 2019 at Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home. Mrs. Kingston was born May 29, 1946 in Surry County to Ira and Edith Harris Cranford.

Mrs. Kingston was a member of Grace Baptist Church, where she was very active in the nursery and children’s ministry. Christene retired from Pleasant Hill Daycare.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Jimmy “Bo” Cranford and sister, Karen Elledge.

Survivors include: husband, David G. Kingston of the home; son, Dwayne Bauguess and wife Mandy of Roaring River; daughter, Tammy McCoin and husband Tim of Elkin; brother, Mike Cranford and wife Tammy of Boonville; sisters, Shirley Hinson of Elkin, Opal Holsclaw of Elkin, Brenda Holsclaw of Boonville, Vickie Goins and husband Clyde of State Road; grandchildren, Haley M. Sullivan and husband William, Hannah M. Winebarger and husband Harley, Anthony Bauguess and wife Jessica, Jeremy Bauguess and wife Jaimee, Lindsay B. Speaks and husband Dylan; and eight great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be conducted Sunday, August 4, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. at Grace Baptist Church with Pastor Ryan Marlow and Preacher Clyde Holloman, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
