Andrew Rustin Tysor

Andrew Rustin “Rusty” Tysor, age 60, passed away unexpectedly at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Plano, Texas.  Rusty was born July 1, 1963 in Salisbury, NC to Fred and Shirley Henrickson Tysor.

Rusty was a 1981 graduate of Asheboro High School where he was a member of the golf team.  Rusty was the owner and operator of Crestwood Memorial Gardens in State Road, NC.  He served in many capacities of the cemetery industry including executive secretary of the NC Cemetery association, a former lobbyist for the NC Cemetery association, and the administrator of cemetery funds for North Carolina.  Rusty was a member of Elkin Presbyterian Church where he served as clerk of session and taught the Parlor Sunday School Class.  Rusty was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include: his wife, Vicky Tysor of the home, three daughters, Alexa Tysor Gemme and husband Michael, Tiffany Tysor Drum and husband Kevin, Kelsey Tysor, two bonus daughters, Lauren Little, Addison Greene and husband Zachary, a sister, Vicki Boyd and husband Steve, twelve grandchildren, Skyler, Kileigh, Kimber, Reagan, Vera, Anthony, Emmitt, Hunter, Payton, Mason, Avelyn, Montgomery and a nephew, Hunter Boyd.

A celebration of Rusty’s life will be held Saturday, April 13, 2024 at Elkin Presbyterian Church at 2:00 pm with Rev. Arlo Tysinger officiating.  Burial will be at a later date at Crestwood Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends following the service at the church. Rusty will lie-in-state Thursday, April 11, 2024 from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Friday, April 12, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. and Saturday, April 13, 2024 from 9:00 a.m.- 12:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials be made in Rusty’s memory to the organization of the donors choice.
