Andy Shores

Robert Andrew “Andy” Shores, 64, passed away peacefully Tuesday, July 6, 2021, at his home in Tucson, Arizona.

Andy was born in Elkin, NC, on March 7, 1957, to Jessie Daniel “JD” and Doris Helen Shores. He grew up in the Union Hill Community and graduated from Surry Central High School where he excelled in both football and baseball. Andy studied viticulture at Surry Community College.

Andy was preceded in death by his parents JD & Doris Shores and sister Cathy Shores Riggs.

Andy is survived by his wife Paula Walters Shores of Tucson; daughter Heather (Kenny) LaCourse of Granite Falls; step-sons Neil (Jelena) Myers of Tucson and Will (Cheryl) Myers of Hamptonville; siblings Joan (Vic) Shamash of Mooresville, Jessie (Bonnie) Shores of State Road, Phillip (Lou) Shores of Thurmond, and Angela (Jesse) Cockerham of Thurmond.  In addition, Andy is survived by six grandchildren and many nieces & nephews.

The family will receive friends Saturday, July 17, 2021, from 2:00-4:00 pm at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Fellowship Hall in Elkin, NC. A memorial service will be held in Tucson, Arizona at a later date.
