Angie Blenda Wagoner

“God put some wonderful people in His world.  If anyone is lucky enough to know them, they could see His love shining through their warmth and goodness.”

Mrs. Angie Blenda Wagoner, age 91 of Elkin went home to be with the LORD June 24, 2024 at Chatham Nursing and Rehabilitation after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.  Mrs. Wagoner was born November 25, 1932 to Dallas Esker and Kate Collins Hinson. She was a lifelong member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and served in the nursery.  Mrs. Wagoner retired from Hanes in Sparta after 41 years of service.  She loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and enjoyed reading her Bible.  She enjoyed working with children, helping friends and family, traveling, coloring and listening to gospel music. Blenda loved working in her garden and sharing the bounty with others.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Gilbert Franklin Wagoner; sisters, Ileene H. Hinson, Faye H. Eldridge, Connie H. Nance, Dorla H. Wagoner; brothers, Leon Hinson, Esker Hinson, and John D. Hinson.

She is survived by her sister Jane Merritt of State Road and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Wagoner will Lie in State Thursday, June 27, 2024 from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service and Friday, June 28, 2024 from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. at Poplar Springs Baptist Church prior to the service. A funeral service will be conducted Friday, June 28, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at Poplar Springs Baptist Church with  Rev. Chad Whitley officiating. Burial will follow at Crestwood Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, Mrs. Wagoner had requested memorials be made to Ebenezer Children’s Home, P. O. Box 1434, North Wilkesboro, NC  28659 or Poplar Springs Baptist Church, 193 Fellowship Way, State Road, NC 28676.
