Mrs. Barbara Silverman Haynes, age 77, of Elkin passed away Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mrs. Haynes was born June 9, 1945 in Baltimore, Maryland to Julius Irvin and Ina Church Silverman.

Mrs. Haynes was a member of First Baptist Church in Elkin. She worked as a dental assistant for Drs. R. B. Harrell, Jim Harrell, Sr. and Jim Harrell, Jr., DDS and as a medical assistant for Dr. Michael Minotti at Northwest Ear, Nose and Throat. She was a special grandmother to her two grandsons, Ryan and Brandon.

Mrs. Haynes was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include: her husband of 57 years, Jerry Haynes of the home; daughter, Gina Buchanan and her husband David of Elkin; grandsons, Ryan Grider of Elkin and Brandon Cosby of Elkin; extended family friend, Bryan Wood of Franklin, TN; sister, Judy Bell of Dunwoody, GA;, sisters-in-law, Carol Long of Conover and Barbara Hiatt of State Road; nephew, Scott Miller and his wife Kim of Winchester, KY; nieces, Cathy Wilson and her husband Randy of Kooskis, ID, Sheri Gates of Harrisonburg, VA, Tracie Grubbs of Elkin and Robin Hiatt of Elkin.

A graveside service will be conducted Friday, May 5, 2023 at 11:30 a.m. at Pleasant View Baptist Church Cemetery with Dr. Bill Johnson officiating.

The family would like to thank the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice, Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, Novant Cancer Center and First Baptist Church Deacon Judy Nance for their care.
