Barbara "Polly" Ann Tulbert

Barbara "Polly" Tulbert passed peacefully to the presence of her Lord Tuesday November 12, 2024.

Polly was born in beautiful Ashe County to John and Lessie Pennington on Oct. 19, 1931.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years, Bobby Lee Tulbert, and her seven siblings, John Mack Pennington, Jack Welburn Pennington, William Watson Pennington, Leana Ruth Pennington Ingold, Peggy Joyce, Pennington Taylor and Nancy Elizabeth Pennington and her beloved granddaughter Jennifer Tulbert Elgebrowney.

She is survived by her two children, Robert Keith Tulbert and wife Ellen, Lynn Tulbert Zimmerman and husband Pete.  In addition to her children she is survived by four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Josh Tulbert and partner Traci Ballance, Taurik Elgabrowney, husband of Jennifer Tulbert Elgabrowney and their children,  Bobbi Elgabrowney and Ibrahim Elgebrowney, Julie Tulbert and partner Caleb Bowers, Ian Zimmerman and fiance MacKenzie Andrillion, Ryan Zimmerman wife Meredith and children, Ellie Grace Zimmeran and Sloane Maclean Zimmerman.

Polly was a long-time member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.  She worked for the Sprint/Centel which she retired from after 44 yrs of service. Her family remembers her for her warmth and love she shared with her family and others in her life, her playful sense of humor and her love of gardening.

Her family thanks all of the staff at Hugh Chatham Hospital staff for their kindness and care of Polly in her final days.

A funeral service will be held, Saturday, November 16, 2024, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Dr. Danny Dodds officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 -1:00 p.m.
