Bettie Ann Motsinger, 87, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2022. The funeral was held at Pawleys Island Presbyterian Church on Saturday, Jan. 22, at 11 a.m. There will be a graveside memorial service held at Hollywood Cemetery in Elkin, on Saturday, Feb. 5, at 11 a.m. Ms. Motsinger was born on Nov. 13, 1934, in Hamptonville. She was the daughter of the late Ransom Steelman and the late Sally Steelman. She attended college at UNCG Woman's College in Greensboro, where she obtained her degree in Early Childhood Education. She was a first grade school teacher for 31 years in Elkin. She also taught Sunday school at Elkin Presbyterian Church and at Pawleys Island Presbyterian Church for many years. For over 27 years, Mr. and Mrs. Motsinger have been faithful members of Pawleys Island Presbyterian Church, where they both have served as elders. Ms. Motsinger had a great love for traveling, reading the Bible and cooking for friends and family. Survivors include her beloved husband of 66 years, Jacob Lee Motsinger, one daughter, Sally (Bobby) Smith, two grandsons, Joel (Amber) Smith and Zann (Austyn) Smith, and three great-grandchildren, Lucy (Zann), Addison Paige (Zann), and Hayden (Joel), all of Murrells Inlet, SC. She was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother. Special thanks to Audrey Scott and Nedra Williams, caregivers, and also thanks to the staff of Amedisys Hospice. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Pawleys Island Presbyterian Church, 9967 Ocean Highway, Pawleys Island, SC 29585 or to Amedisys Hospice Home Health Care Agency, 402 Singleton Ridge Road, Conway, SC 29526. Following the funeral service, everyone is invited to join the family at the Holsclaw Fellowship Center to continue to celebrate the life of Bettie Motsinger with a time of refreshment and fellowship.
