Betty Brown

Mrs. Betty Lou Evans Brown, age 86, of State Road passed away Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Brown was born May 18, 1935 in Alleghany County to Roy Wayne Evans and Etta Lowe Evans.

Mrs. Brown was a member of Elk Spur Baptist Church and retired from Lucia.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Lonnie V. Brown; daughter, Betty Jean Brown; great-grandson, Tyler Bowman; brothers, Jackie Wayne Evans and Joe Bill Evans.

Survivors include: her sons, Rev. Lonnie Brown and his wife Gail of Valdese, David Brown and his wife Stacey of Holly Springs, MS; daughter, Brenda Anthony of North Wilkesboro; sisters, Louise Jenkins of Elkin, Carol Bottomley and her husband Junior of Glade Valley; grandchildren, Katlin Anthony and her life partner Hunter Travis, Adam Brown his wife Morgan, Carissa Brown and her boyfriend Josh Brown; Sarah Brooks; Ethan Brown and his wife Kaylee; great-grandchildren, Abel Wayne Brown, Cylas Brown, Claira Brooks, Everlee Lou Brown; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted Monday, May 9, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel Rev. Rick Crouse and Rev. David Osborne officiating. Burial will follow in Glade Creek Union Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
