Betty Sue Harris, age 80, passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson.
Betty was born on February 10, 1942 in Surry County to Curtis Odell Carter and Betty Mozelle Combs Carter. Betty Sue began attending Elkin West Activity Center in June 1975 and continued there until its closing. She continued at Wilkes Vocational Services for twenty-plus years until her health declined.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include: brother, Frankie Odean Carter and his wife Jane of Roaring River; sisters, Zella Mae Benton and her husband Paul of Ronda, Cathy Blackburn of Ronda; nephews, Jason Aldean Carter and his wife Summer Hamby Carter, Timothy Benton and his wife Holly; nieces, Sandra Benton Bryant, Telisha Dawn Carter Dowell; great-nieces, Madison Faith Carter, Meredith Hope Carter, Taylor Rae Severt, Kenlee Benton, Amber Tilly and her husband Blake and great-nephews, Jake Bryant and Ty Benton.
A funeral service with be conducted Sunday, January 8, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Ronda Baptist Tabernacle with Rev. Joshua Blevins and Rev. Dwayne Lankford officiating. Interment will follow in Ronda City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
