Billy Ray Gregory

Mr. Billy Ray Gregory (Tip), age 83, of Elkin passed away Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. Mr. Gregory was born November 3, 1937 in Wilkes County to Vander William and Treva Combs Gregory.

Mr. Gregory was a member of Little Elkin Baptist Church and retired from R.J. Reynolds.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Garry Gentry and brother, Bob Gregory.

Survivors include: his loving wife, Ruth Reynolds Gregory of the home; daughers, Kim Gentry Hudspeth and husband Steve of Thurmond, Kathy Eskridge and husband Mike of Jonesville, Karen Layell and husband Jeff of State Road; brothers, Tony Gregory and wife Jean, Danny Gregory and wife Lynn; sisters, Carol Stokes, Linda Everidge, Kay Swaim; sister-in-law, Caroleen Gregory; grandchildren, Erin Eskridge, Kurt Eskridge and fiancée Jessica Argo, Nick Gentry and wife Kasey, Sarah Gentry Marshall and husband Ronald; great-grandchildren, Presley Swaim, Ian Gentry, Gage Marshall, and Natalie Pearl Marshall.

A graveside service will be conducted Saturday, January 30, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Little Elkin Baptist Church with Rev. Gwyn Anderson and Rev. Seth Siceloff officiating. Masks are required for those attending the graveside service. Mr. Gregory will lie-in-state Friday from 12:30-5:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service.
