Billy Joe Mathis

Mr. Billy Joe Mathis, age 43, of Elkin passed away Tuesday, December 28, 2022 at his residence.  Billy was born March 22, 1979 in Surry County to Jimmie and Patricia Louise McGee Mathis.

Billy was an avid car enthusiast, especially Fox Body Mustangs.  He was a faithful caregiver to his family and loved his special dog, Jackson.

In addition to his mother he was preceded in death by his brother, David Mathis, his uncle, Bobby Mathis and his grandmother, Peggy Mathis.

Survivors include: his father, Jimmie Mathis; aunts and uncles, Janet and Pete Vestal, Wendy Combs, Kathy and Greg Huggins, Susan and Terry Hooker, Danny and Diane Mathis; several nieces and nephews and a lifelong special friend, Jennifer Reece.

A funeral service will be conducted Friday, December 30, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Dr. Wesley Smith officiating.  Burial will follow in Crestwood Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
