Mrs. Barbara “Bobbie” Nance Couch, age 92, passed away Monday, April 11, 2022 at Forsyth Medical Center.
The daughter of Henry Vernon and Annie Mitchell Nance, she grew up in Greensboro, NC where she graduated Greensboro High School. After her marriage to Coney Couch she made her home in Elkin for 59 years. She loved her work and spent her career in administrative roles for Burlington Industries, Finger & Park Attorneys at Law, and First Baptist Church of Elkin.
Bobbie’s favorite past times were sewing, making music, participating in water aerobics, and playing tennis. For over twenty years, she delighted in coordinating the Raquettes, a weekly women’s tennis group, through which she met and enjoyed many friends.
She is survived by daughters, Candace Conaway and her husband John of Elkin and Carolyn Couch of Clemmons, as well as sister, Henrietta Neeley of Hendersonville, NC and sister-in-law, Gloria Nance of Calabash, NC. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents; brother, Charles Nance; sister and brother-in-law Lucy and Dan Rochelle; and brother-in-law, Rick Neeley.
A memorial service will be conducted Saturday, April 30, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Elkin with Dr. Bill Johnson and Rev. Mark Reece, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall following the service. A private graveside service will be conducted at Hollywood Cemetery.
