Bobby James Holbrook

Mr. Bobby James Holbrook, age 75, of Elkin passed away peacefully October 7, 2021. Mr. Holbrook was born May 2, 1946 in Traphill to John Calloway Hobrook and Flossie Casey Holbrook.

Bobby was a North Carolina licensed auctioneer since 1999. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching NASCAR races, eating crabs, making music, but most importantly spending time with his family, friends, and beloved dog, Skipper. Bobby was a master storyteller, had a memory that outdid everyone and a laugh that will be missed by all.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Carl Holbrook, Claude Holbrook, Lundy Holbrook, Clyde Holbrook; sisters, Muriel Stout, Mazie Campbell and Pansy Waddell.

He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Rita Dotson Holbrook of the home; daughters, Debbie Casstevens of Elkin, Brenda Wilcox and husband Bill “BJ” of Elkin; grandchildren, Kayla Wilcox and Austin Wilcox of Elkin; twin sister, Barbara Sellers and husband Michael of Thurmond; brothers, Mack Holbrook and wife Bev of Colora, MD; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A funeral service will be conducted Saturday, October 9, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Charity Hill Baptist Church, 423 Union Hill Rd, Thurmond, NC, with Pastor Brian Cardwell and Rev. Daniel Shores officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home for the care and compassion given to Bobby and his family.
